Parkdale-High Park Constituents Highlight the IPCC Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC., and call upon MP Arif Virani to Pledge

On October 24, 2018, approximately one year before the next federal election, many constituents, including members of Green 13, took time out of their schedules throughout the day to go to MP Arif Virani’s constituency office, and personally deliver:
• a copy of the summary report of the IPCC special report on global warming of 1.5 degrees C. of October 8, 2018.

On October 8, 2018 the IPCC, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, issued its special report on GLOBAL WARMING OF 1.5 degrees Celsius. The summary report may be read here.

ECO releases 2018 GHG Progress Report - webinar coming Oct. 1

On September 25, 2018, the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, Dianne Saxe, released Climate Action in Ontario: What's Next?, her 2028 Greenhouse Gas Progress Report, to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.The report calls on the provincial government to create a climate change law that drives down emissions while funding sensible solutions. A meaningful climate law needs science-based emissions budgets, a legal obligation to stay within those budgets, and credible, transparent progress reporting.

New Home Resilience Pilot Program

The City of Toronto is supporting a new pilot program to help homeowners address basement flooding. The Toronto Home Resilience Program is an emergency preparedness and flood risk reduction education service that provides homeowners with emergency preparedness resources and a Home Flood Protection Assessment that identifies priority actions to reduce their risk of basement flooding. The program is available on a first come-first serve basis to up to 200 homeowners, for a cost of $95.
