Speak up for Pollinators Dec. 11 '14, 9am to 12 noon
Many of Ontario's bees are suffering rapid declines due to habitat destruction and exposure to pesticides like neonicotinoids. The provincial government has announced a plan to reduce the use of neonicotinoids on corn and soybean by 80 percent by 2017. This target is a bold and necessary step to address the threats that these pesticides pose to human and ecosystem health.
Public consultations on the proposal are beginning. Please consider participating in the Toronto meeting and making your voice heard, especially if you feel the government should extend its proposed restrictions to cover the use of all types of neonicotinoids on all crops and not just the 3 proposed.
